WHO WE ARE

Who is
Nick Ross?

Radio and TV Presenter Nick Ross has had a varied broadcasting career which has spanned decades. He is most notably known for hosting BBC Crimewatch, which, after 23 years as the Crimewatch anchor, makes him one of the longest serving broadcasters in British television history.

Another show Nick was heavily involved with for many years was BBC Watchdog which focuses on consumer rights, and along with his many other broadcasting achievements, Nick is also chairman, president, trustee or patron of a large number of charities.

Nick is a consumer advocate and has been an avid campaigner for consumer protection for many years. He has worked with ABTA, the Department of Work and Pensions, and the World Travel and Tourism Council.

Nick Ross is an ambassador for our whole group of schemes, (which includes DGCOS and HIES). When our founder Tony Pickup was looking for a celebrity endorser for our first consumer protection scheme, DGCOS, in 2007, there really was nobody better suited than the ultimate consumer champion Nick Ross.

Why is Nick supporting HICS?

Tony first approached Nick because he was a champion of the Ombudsman idea. The more Nick read and learnt about the scheme, the more he bought into what we were doing, our values and our promise. Nick started out as a brand ambassador for DGCOS over 10 years ago and he has grown with us, now supporting associated consumer protection schemes, including HIES and HICS.

Before agreeing to work with the schemes, Nick conducted his own thorough research into the industry and what we aimed to achieve, and everything he found, reinforced his opinion that what we do is something that will not only benefit the industry but will fundamentally help consumers.

Nick shares our ethos that a quality Ombudsman Scheme is exactly what the industry needs, and he believes that the protection we offer is not only necessary, but a reflection of what he has always championed for.
